Yannis Tyrinopoulos is Transportation Planner. He graduated from the Mathematics department of the University of Ioannina. In 2003 he received his Ph.D. diploma from the Civil Engineering Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with thesis entitled ‘Telematics Applications in Public Transport: An integrated Management Information Model for the Planning and Administration of Public Transport Systems’. Mr. Tyrinopoulos has worked in the private sector (company TRD International SA), in the research sector (Centre for Research and Technology Hellas, Hellenic Institute of Transport), and since November 2010 he is working as professor (current position: Associate Professor) in the Civil Engineering Department of the University of West Attica. He has been Director General of the Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers. Mr. Tyrinopoulos has written 3 books, 4 book chapters, many research papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, while he has participated in many expert groups, committees and panels, such as the EC DG Move Urban ITS Expert Group, TRB AP020 Committee on Emerging and Innovative Public Transport and Technologies, and the ECTRI Working Group on Urban Mobility. His main transportation fields of expertise are public transport, sustainable urban mobility and ITS.
