Dr Elena Kapogianni is an experienced Civil Engineer and has a PhD in the field of Geotechnical Engineering (National Technical University of Athens-NTUA). She has been awarded a Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship (Stipendium der Schweizerischen Eidgenossenschaft) in order to carry out research at the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). She has been awarded the “Geosynthetic Institute Award, USA”, in a worldwide call for requests for proposals focusing on innovative geosynthetics research and development projects for young researchers. Furthermore, she has been awarded 3 Scholarships from the State Scholarship Foundation of Greece (IKY Fellowships of Excellence for Postgraduate Studies in Greece), in order to carry out postdoctoral research at the National Technical University of Athens. She has worked as research personnel at the KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence of the University of Cyprus and Imperial College UK and as a researcher at the Institute of Geodynamics, National Observatory of Athens. Furthermore, she has worked as a scientific staff at the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI) and as a European Commission Expert for HORIZON-MSCA research proposals evaluation. During her academic activity, she has published articles in scientific journals and conference proceedings and has participated in research projects, at Universities and Research Centres. She teaches as an adjunct Lecturer at undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the National Technical University of Athens, the University of Western Attica and the School of Pedagogical and Technological Education.
