The laboratory covers the needs of specific traffic and transportation courses of the Civil Engineering Department of the University of West Attica, and provides the technological infrastructure for the conduction of laboratory exercises and research for: the calculation of basic traffic variables (volume, density, speed, headways, traffic composition, peak hour factor etc.), the calculation of signalization times, the depiction of road network and its characteristics, as well as the analysis of the traffic through the use of PC. The equipment of the laboratory is diverse, state-of-the-art, and it is used by the students in real life conditions. A specialized simulation software is used by the students for the further analysis of the traffic parameters. Overall, the laboratory offers the following equipment:

  • Drone [1]
  • Autoscope cameras [2]
  • Radar [2]
  • Mechanical vehicle recorders ADR1000 and associated equipment (tires, hooks, nails) [6]
  • Tally counters [11]
  • Personal computers [9]
  • Traffic simulation software Synchro plus SimTraffic 11
  • Programs for collecting and processing traffic data
